SUMA milestones

From 1957 until today

1957
The official business registration as "factory for development, production and maintenance of electrical and mechanical facilities, machinery and equipment" was made through Gerhard Thürwächter in Kühbach, Germany.

1958
Starting with manufacturing of agitators and hay trailers. This also includes the development of the first electric agitator REKORDMIX.

1963
The 2nd generation of the REKORDMIX was introduced to the market in the form of the REKORDMIX B. Here you will find the oldest traceable advertisement for SUMA mixers.

1965
Expansion of the company. The company headquarters moved to an old farmhouse in the center of Sulzberg, Germany. The barn was converted into a workshop and now provided space for 15 skilled workers.

1970
Gerhard Thürwächter developed the first “GIANTMIX” tractor-driven agitator.

1976
Start of construction of the company building in the Sulzberg industrial estate and subsequent relocation. With a market share of 70 - 80 %, Thürwächter Sondermaschinen GmbH had taken on a leading role.

1982
Development of the GIANTMIX SG as an alternative to the submersible mixers of other companies.

1986
Construction of the first submersible mixers. Construction of museum display cases. The construction of museum showcases did not catch on and was discontinued after some time.

1991
Dipl. Ing. (FH) Paul Thürwächter joins the company. He was appointed CEO in 1993 and took over the shares in 1998.

1992
The company now has around 25 employees.

2000
Expansion into America through the independent company SUMA America Inc. Optimization of agitators and construction of new products.

2010
Foundation of the subsidiary Brasuma Ltda in Brazil.

2017
SUMA celebrates its 60th anniversary.

2019
Start of construction of the new assembly hall.

2020
SUMA expands its agitator technology portfolio with the new PRESSURA pump range. Inauguration of the new assembly hall with office complex and CASUMA canteen.

2023
Lena Undeutsch (née Thürwächter) becomes Managing Director. From now on, she forms the joint dual leadership with her father and owner Paul Thürwächter.

The SUMA online shop for submersible mixers and spare parts goes online.

2023
With “SUMA Versand”, a further company location is opened in Sulzberg, where shipping is handled.

2024
Foundation of the sales company SUMA Polska & SUMA India.
